It is time to start looking more closely at which behaviours you are modelling for your student teachers.

• In your journal, reflect on the ‘marigold’ and ‘walnut tree’ teachers you have encountered during your own teaching career.
• What are the core characteristics of a ‘marigold’ teacher? How do these relate to the attributes of a good mentor teacher as discussed in Module 1?

• Do you think your student teachers would see you as a Mary Gold or a Wally Nutt? Identify any Wally Nut Tree behaviour you are guilty of.
• Watch yourself carefully over the next week to catch yourself slipping into Wally Nutt mode.
